After being nominated in the Top 100, I was recently awarded a finalist position in the Top 10 Australian Advertising Photographers for 2009.

Copyright - Help has Arrived!!
Finally, and thanks to the developers of this truely unique and powerful tool, www.tineye.com now assists photographers to track down where their images are being used. Although the site is still very young, and has a long way before searching the entire "World Wide Web", it's a step forward in protecting our rights as photographers.

So exactly what is it, and how does it work you ask? Well....here is their speel:
TinEye is a reverse image search engine. You can submit an image to TinEye to find out where it came from, how it is being used, if modified versions of the image exist, or to find higher resolution versions. TinEye is the first image search engine on the web to use image identification technology rather than keywords, metadata or watermarks.
How does TinEye work?
When you submit an image to be searched, TinEye creates a unique and compact digital signature or 'fingerprint' for it, then compares this fingerprint to every other image in our index to retrieve matches. TinEye can even find a partial fingerprint match.
TinEye does not typically find similar images (i.e. a different image with the same subject matter); it finds exact matches including those that have been cropped, edited or resized.
So photographers, spend some quality time uploading your most cherished images and collect those outstanding royalties!
Good Luck!

Swimwear in Vanuatu
It was yet another tough gig with our long term client, 2 Chillies. This year, we were jet setting to the wonderful islands of Vanuatu to shoot the second summer swimwear arrival of 09. Having battled torrential monsoonal rain on our descent into Port Villa, we embarked on a difficult trip into unknown territory where locals appeared from dense forest with machetes.

Despite the weather we continued our recce to find......nothing. 3 hours and $150 dollars later in a bus with smoking wheels, we knew our shoot would prove to be our most difficult assignment yet with 2 Chillies.

Somehow and from somewhere, the sun appeared for glimpses throughout our first day of shooting, at a place called Tamanu.....a place not yet recced or ever seen by anyone in our crew. We soldiered on capturing some of the best images ever shot for 2 Chillies.

As the rain threatened, we paused for moments to only then battle more rain in hope for the 8 heroes needed for the day.
Our second day became somewhat easier knowing exactly what we were in for. To another location not yet seen by our crew we arrived at Ehton beach - a haven of crystal clear water, visible reef and fresh water streams. Here, we knew we'd nail our shots and capture the heroes required by surf shops around the country.

Without the crew, it wouldn't be a success....thank you to all involved....MWA!!!
